The Lippan Art Journey

New Leaf’s Signature Collection

Art You Can Carry

At New Leaf, Lippan Art is not just a collection — it is our signature, our identity, and the soul of our brand.

Like all our creations, this journey too began with inspiration from India’s rich craft heritage. While exploring traditional art forms of Kutch, our founder, Anjali Kanodia, discovered the timeless beauty of Lippan Art — a centuries‑old mud and mirror craft traditionally created on village walls.

What started as admiration soon turned into a question that would redefine New Leaf forever:

What if this beautiful wall art could move with you?
What if tradition could become something you carry?

And thus began the Lippan Art journey.

THE INSPIRATION — ROOTED IN KUTCH

Traditionally, Lippan Art adorns the mud walls of homes in the Kutch region of Gujarat. Created using clay, natural pigments and tiny mirrors, these intricate patterns reflect light, culture and centuries of storytelling.

For Anjali, this art felt deeply personal. The mirrors reminded her of reflections, journeys and memories. The patience behind every curve reflected the very values New Leaf stood for — craftsmanship, perseverance and soul.

Like every New Leaf collection before it, the Lippan Art line too was born from deep respect for Indian tradition — reimagined through a modern lens.

FROM WALLS TO BAGS — A NEW EXPRESSION OF ART

Transforming a delicate wall craft into a functional accessory was one of the most challenging and defining phases of our journey.

It took months of research, material experimentation and close collaboration with skilled artisans to understand how Lippan Art could be adapted for bags — without losing its essence.

Every mirror had to be secured with precision.
Every motif had to be strengthened for durability.
Every design had to balance beauty with comfort and usability.

Each bag takes nearly 15 hours of meticulous handcrafting — where patience meets precision, and tradition meets innovation.

What finally emerged was something truly special:

Art that no longer stayed on walls — but walked with you.

OUR DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

At New Leaf, Lippan Art is reinterpreted through contemporary silhouettes and refined aesthetics.

From festive Indian motifs to modern geometric patterns…
From soft pastels and ivory whites to bold black‑gold statements…
From classic potlis to structured box slings and statement handbags…

Each design is thoughtfully curated to reflect:

• Heritage and high fashion
• Tradition and modern living
• Artistic beauty and everyday functionality

Our aim is simple — to create timeless pieces that feel relevant today and treasured tomorrow.

THE HANDS BEHIND THE ART

Behind every Lippan Art bag lies the dedication of skilled karigars whose hands carry generations of knowledge.

Working closely with our artisan partners, we ensure ethical practices, fair craftsmanship and deep respect for this heritage craft. Every mirror placed, every curve shaped, carries patience, pride and passion.

At New Leaf, artisans are not vendors — they are co‑creators of our story.
